With Legion, the costs for respecing in World of Warcraft are eliminated. Talent switching is also easier.
Switching talents in Legion happens at all “safe locations”
Who still remembers the “good old days” in World of Warcraft, when respecing was so expensive that you had to farm gold for several days just to afford it? Nowadays, respecing has become significantly easier and cheaper; with Dual-Spec, everyone can switch their talents and specialization as they wish “on the go”.
Currently, this is even a bit more extreme in the closed beta of Legion. Talents can be swapped with just one click, as long as you are not in combat. This leads to many players adjusting their talents second by second. If a fight against many small enemies is upcoming, they choose an AoE talent; as soon as they face the boss, they select the single-target talent.
Even Blizzard has found this a bit too extreme now and will limit the ability to switch talents freely in an upcoming patch. This will only be possible at “safe” locations, called rest areas, such as inns or capitals. Those who cannot manage without the ability to switch talents can have an item created by scribes that at least temporarily allows this.
Switching specializations will be even easier and cheaper. In Legion, there is “Tri-Spec”, which basically means that you can save for each specialization. At the class trainer, you could set a primary specialization. Switching to this primary specialization was free, while switching to the other two specializations was linked to gold costs (maximum 79 gold).
The gold costs are now completely eliminated, allowing talents and specialization to be switched at safe locations at no cost.
