The highlights of WoW 7.1 are the new mythic dungeon “Karazhan”, the new raid “Trial of Valor”, the continuation of the Suramar campaign, new world quests, and many class changes. Below is the detailed listing of the changes.
WoW Legion 7.1 – English Patch Notes for Return to Karazhan
New Mythic Dungeon: Karazhan
Since its mysterious creation, the purpose of this dark tower has been closely woven into the history of the Tirisfal Guardians, who once represented Azeroth’s mightiest defense against the Legion. Today, it is commonly known as the home of Medivh, who betrayed Azeroth and brought the uninterrupted line of Guardians to an end. This legacy makes Karazhan particularly desirable for the Legion, which has sent its forces to open a new front in the war against the inhabitants of Azeroth.
Assemble a group of five valiant heroes and return to this legendary dungeon to face eight bosses on mythic difficulty. This experience will turn your world upside down!
New Raid: Trial of Valor
Since he was betrayed by Loken, Odyn has been trapped in the Halls of Valor. From there, he must witness Helya devising a plan in the shadows to claim the souls of his Valarjar champions. Recently, however, mighty heroes have emerged in the lands of Stormheim, who seem to have followed the Legion. Hoping to end Helya’s reign with their strength and determination, Odyn challenges these champions to a final trial.
This new raid, consisting of three bosses, concludes the story of Stormheim. Odyn, Guarm, and Helya will be available two weeks after the release of Patch 7.1 in normal and heroic difficulties. Mythic and the raid browser options will follow later.
Continuation of the Suramar Campaign
You will continue your heroic efforts in Suramar with a new questline that will unlock over a period of nine weeks, leading you to the levels of the Night Fortress. Experience the rebellion of the Nightborne against the Nightborne and their demonic allies of the Legion and obtain the wondrous Mana Saber from the Arcanist as a mount. Keep an eye out for the quest “No Connection” to start this adventure.
New World Quests
A new questline is now available that opens access to the world quests of the Helarjar. Keep an eye out for the quest “Forced to Trade” in Dalaran. It reveals the shocking extent of Helya’s influence on the Broken Isles and allows you to support the resistance.
The falcosaur is here! The coast of the Broken Isles is being attacked by an aggressive predator species that is breeding uncontrollably. Falconsaur eggs and falcosaur feathers drop from falcosaurs, which you need for new recipes in First Aid and Cooking. Adopt an orphaned falcosaur as a pet and learn more about these hungry creatures. Who knows? You might end up with a new, unique mount.

Class Changes
Death Knight
- Frost
- ‘Frozen Pulse’ now triggers when the Death Knight has fewer than 2 full runes (previously 1).
- The damage of ‘Frozen Pulse’ has been decreased to 60 % of attack power (previously 72 %).
- ‘Unstoppable Glacier’ now hits targets in melee range more reliably.
- ‘Chilling Ice’ now increases frost damage by 3 % per stack (previously 2 %).
- The damage of ‘Obliterate’ has been increased by 20 %.
- The damage of ‘Howling Gale’ has been increased by 50 %.
- Unholy
- The damage of ‘Death’s Cloak’ has been increased by 50 %.
- Blood
- ‘Icebound Fortitude’ is back and reduces the damage taken by the Death Knight by 30 % (still 20 % for Frost Death Knights).
Demon Hunter
- The damage bonus from ‘Tormenting Flames’ for ‘Firebrand Aura’ has been reduced to 30 % (previously 50 %).
- ‘Demon’s Blade’ can now be used against enemies in melee range, even if the Demon Hunter is incapacitated.
- The range from which soul fragments can be used for ‘Soul Cleave’, ‘Soul Barrier’, and ‘Soul Bomb’ has been increased to 25 meters (previously 20 meters).
- ‘Demon Blades’ can now trigger during the global cooldown (previously delayed until the global cooldown was over). This does not increase overall damage.
- The healing from the damage of ‘Soul Bomb’ has been increased to 15 % (previously 10 %).
- ‘Soul Barrier’ now lasts 12 seconds (previously 8 seconds).
- The intervals at which new abilities are learned have been increased:
- ‘Mark of Silence’ – Level 101
- ‘Spell Shield Charge’ – Level 103
- ‘Mark of Woe’ – Level 105
Druid
- ‘Mastery: Harmony’ now includes ‘Raging Regeneration’.
- ‘Ysera’s Gift’ now only heals party or raid members.
- ‘Seed of Life’ now copies 25 % of critical healing (previously 50 %).
- ‘Seed of the World Tree’ increases this value by 8 % per point (previously 10 %).
- ‘Moonkin Rage’ now only affects ‘Lunar Strike’ (and no longer affects ‘Solar Wrath’ or ‘Starfall’).
- The healing from ‘Swiftmend’ has been increased to 770 % of spell power (previously 700 %).
- (Balance, Guardian, Feral) Druids now have ‘Regrowth’ instead of ‘Healing Touch’.
- ‘Regrowth’ can be cast in Moonkin form.
- Talents, artifact bonuses, and legendary items have been updated accordingly to affect ‘Regrowth’.
- (Restoration) ‘Regrowth’ now has a 40 % increased chance to critically hit (previously 60 %).
- The activation of ‘Incarnation’ no longer triggers the global cooldown in any specialization.
- ‘Incarnation: Chosen of Elune’ now uses the armored Moonkin model.
- ‘Galactic Guardian’:
- ‘Moonfire’ now generates 10 fury (previously 15).
- Direct damage has been increased by 300 %.
- Now has a spell warning.
- Restoration
- ‘Bounty’ now reduces the cooldown of ‘Swiftmend’ by 3 seconds (previously 5 seconds).
- The healing from ‘Green Thumb’ has been increased by 20 %.
- Guardian
- ‘Thick Fur’ now reduces damage taken by 6 % (previously 10 %).
Hunter
- All gnome and goblin hunters – as well as all hunters using the mechanical imprint matrix – receive the ability ‘Mechanical Units Tracker’.
- ‘Impromptu’ now lasts 5 seconds (previously 8 seconds).
- ‘Vulnerable’ now increases damage by 50 % (previously 25 %) and stacks 2 times (previously 3 times).
- New talent for hunters (replaces ‘Sprint’):
- ‘Pathbreaker’: The hunter’s movement speed is increased by 25 % after not attacking for 3 seconds.
- Survival
- The damage of ‘Raptor Strike’ has been increased by 100 %.
- The damage of ‘Chop’ has been increased by 150 %.
- The damage of ‘Battle’ has been increased by 35 %.

- Statue of the Mistweaver
- ‘Sheilun’s Gift’ now activates ‘Soothing Mist’.
- The healing from Chi-Ji’s ‘Crane Heal’ has been decreased to 135 % of spell power (previously 150 %).
- The healing from ‘Soothing Mist’ has been increased to 64 % of spell power per tick (previously 55 %).
- Brewmaster
- Brewmaster monks now gain 15% additional armor from equipment.
- ‘Beer Belly’ now lasts 4.5 seconds (previously 1.5 seconds).
Paladin
- ‘Aura of Retribution’ no longer ignores tanks (including the caster).
- The healing from ‘Flash of Light’ has been increased to 450 % of spell power (previously 425 %) and now costs 18 % of base mana (previously 16 %).
- Holy
- The talent ‘Law’s Rule’ now increases the radius of ‘Tyr’s Redemption’ by 50 %.
- The mana costs of ‘Hammer of Light’ have been reduced to 35 % of base mana (previously 40 %).
- ‘Holy Wrath’ now extends the duration of ‘Vengeful Retribution’ by 5 seconds (previously 10 seconds).
- Retribution
- ‘Holy Wrath’ now deals damage to 4 nearby enemies equal to 200 % of your missing health, up to a maximum of 120 % of your maximum health.
- ‘Blade of Vengeance’ has been reworked: (Passive) Your auto-attacks have a chance to reset the cooldown of your ‘Blade of Justice’.
- Protection
- ‘First Avenger: Shield of the Avenger’ now deals 50 % more damage to the first target and has a 10 % higher chance to trigger ‘Supreme Crusader’.
- ‘Bastion of Light’ now has a cooldown of 2 minutes (previously 3 minutes).
- ‘Judgment of the Crusader’ now has 2 charges and ‘Supreme Crusader’ now grants a charge of ‘Judgment’.
Priest
- ‘Spirit Shaper’ now grants 0.5 % of your mana per tick (previously 0.75 %).
- Discipline
- ‘Power Word: Comfort’ now grants 1 % of your mana per tick (previously 0.75 %).
- The cast time of ‘Clarity of Will’ has been reduced to 2.0 seconds (previously 2.5 seconds).
- ‘Repentance’ now extends ‘Atonement’ by 3 seconds (previously 2 seconds).
- Holy
- The healing from ‘Renew’ has been increased to 62 % of spell power (previously 55 %).
- ‘Desperate Prayer’ now heals and increases health by 30 % (previously 20 %).
- ‘Divinity’ now lasts 6 seconds (previously 8 seconds).
- The healing from ‘Heal’ has been increased to 500 % of spell power (previously 475 %).
- The healing from ‘Prayer of Mending’ has been increased to 175 % of spell power (previously 150 %).
- ‘Prayer of Mending’ now avoids jumping to a target that already has ‘Prayer of Mending’ active if possible.
- ‘Binding Heal’ now costs 2.5 % of mana (previously 3 %).
- The damage of ‘Holy Fire’ has been increased to 200 % of spell power (previously 150 %).
- Shadow
- ‘Arcane Flow’ now grants 15 Insanity.
- The costs of ‘Power Word: Shield’ have been increased by 51 %.
- Shadow Form returns as a new ability for Shadow Priests:
- Assume a shadow form that increases your shadow damage dealt by 10 % and reduces physical damage taken by 10 %. You cannot cast Holy spells in this form.
- Your shadow-like appearance is now bound to Shadow Form.
- ‘Void Form’ now enhances Shadow Form. It automatically triggers Shadow Form when not active, and you gain the effects of both.
- When ‘Void Form’ ends, you return to your Shadow Form.
- The damage of all Shadow Priest abilities has been reduced to compensate for this change. Thus, overall damage has neither increased nor decreased.
Rogue
- ‘Kingslayer’ now grants 1 combo point.
- ‘Blood Rush’, ‘Death Sentence’, and ‘Ghostly Strike’ now appear on the caster’s nameplates.
- The cast time for all poisons from assassination rogues has been reduced to 1.5 seconds (previously 3 seconds).
- Outlaw
- The damage of ‘Saber Slash’ has been increased by 10 %.
- The damage of ‘Pistol Shot’ has been increased by 10 %.
- The damage of ‘Ghostly Strike’ has been increased by 10 %.
- The damage of ‘Thunder Gun’ has been increased by 10 %.
Shaman
- ‘Fire Elemental’, ‘Earth Elemental’, and ‘Spirit Wolf’ now have totem timers.
- ‘Totem of Earthquake’ has been renamed to ‘Earthquake’ and no longer summons a totem.
- ‘Current’ now grants a 30 % bonus to the direct healing of ‘Tidal Wave’ (previously 40 %).
- Elemental
- ‘Storm Keeper’ now additionally converts affected casts of ‘Lightning Bolt’ and ‘Chain Lightning’ into instant casts.
- ‘Storm Keeper’ now has a cast time of 1.5 seconds.
- The damage of ‘Earth Shock’ has been increased by 15 %.
- The damage of ‘Frost Shock’ has been increased by 15 %.
Warlock
- ‘Demon Skin’ and ‘Demonic Circle’ have swapped their position in the talent tree.
- ‘Magic Devourer’ returns for Demon Hunters.
- The damage of ‘Shadow Bolt’ from the Felguard has been increased by 13 %.
- Affliction
- ‘Unstable Affliction’ now afflicts a target up to 5 times simultaneously with ‘Unstable Affliction’.
- The artifact bonus ‘Merged Terror’ has been reworked: It causes the next effect of ‘Unstable Affliction’ to deal immediate shadow damage (equal to 32 % of spell power). Stackable up to 5 times.
- ‘Soul Link’ is now immune to area damage.
- The damage of ‘Agony’ has been increased by 5 %.
- The damage of ‘Unstable Affliction’ has been increased by 5 %.
- The damage of ‘Drain Life’ has been increased by 5 %.
- The damage of ‘Soul Siphon’ has been increased.
- The damage of ‘Phantom Singularity’ has been increased by 5 %.
- The damage of ‘Corruption’ has been increased by 10 %.
- Demonology
- ‘Demon Wrath’ now grants persistent soul shards.
- ‘Demonic Empowerment’ now increases health by 20 % (previously 50 %).
- The damage of ‘Thal’kiel’s Consumption’ has been increased to 8 % of the pet’s health (previously 6 %).
Warrior
- ‘Inspiring Presence’ now only affects party and raid members.
- ‘Knee Shot’ is now affected by the global cooldown and can now trigger ‘Tactician’.
- The damage of ‘Blade Storm’ has been increased by 8 % for all specializations.
- Fury
- The damage of ‘Furious Strike’ has been increased by 8 %.
- The damage of ‘Rampage’ has been increased by 8 %.
- The damage of ‘Execute’ has been increased by 8 %.
- The damage of ‘Bloodthirst’ has been increased by 8 %.
- The damage of ‘Odyn’s Fury’ has been increased by 8 %.
- The damage of ‘Furious Slashes’ has been increased by 8 %.
- The damage of ‘Dragon Roar’ has been increased by 8 %.

- New level 100 tutorials have been added for upgraded hunter (Survival) and shaman characters (Enhancement).
Items
- The following items’ enhancement effect is now not completely removed, but only disabled when leaving the Broken Isles:

- The duration of ‘Unbridled Rage’ has been increased by 5 seconds, and the armor and health bonus has been increased by 10 %.
- The trinket Swarming Blight can now also be obtained by shamans whose loot specialization is set to Enhancement.
Legion Companion App
- World quest tooltips have been updated with bounty information.
- Map filter information for active bounties has been added.
- Items received from completed work orders are now displayed.
- Performance improvements have been made.
- Various bugs have been fixed.
Leveling Up
This patch has made a variety of changes to improve the order and dynamics of abilities gained at level ups for all classes.
- In many cases, the starting abilities for levels 1-10 have been changed.
- Many special bonuses and features for class abilities are now granted through upgrades learned at a higher level.
- This applies to all classes except Death Knights and Demon Hunters.
- Examples:
- Druids below level 10 now use ‘Wrath’ and ‘Moonfire’ instead of ‘Shred’ and ‘Mangle’ as primary damage abilities.
- ‘Holy Pain’ remains the level-1 ability of the Priest, but the additionally generated absorb shield is now an upgrade learned by Discipline Priests at level 36, as this effect is meant to improve healing in group content.
- Rogues now start their careers with an ability that performs a weapon attack and generates a combo point. For rogues choosing the Assassin specialization, this ability is replaced at level 40 by ‘Mutilate’.
New World Event
- Return to Alcaz Island – Doctor Weavil and the Slave Gnomes
- Investigate Doctor Weavil’s treacherous plans on Alcaz Island.
- As a reward, everyone receives the toy Big Red Ray Gun, and hunters receive tamable mechanical spiders.
Pet Battles
- On a Leash Raid IV
- Search for new rare pets and fight against a new celestial opponent in Ulduar, the Trial of the Crusader, and Icecrown Citadel.
PvP – Player vs Player
- The Nagrand arena has been visually overhauled.
Honor System
- Honor talents are no longer lost when a player increases their prestige level.
- At higher prestige levels, players now receive gold or artifact power instead of honor talents.
Rewards
- The item levels of equipment rewards from PvP now scale like the equipment rewards from world quests. They can also be warmongered and titanforged and have sockets and tertiary stats.
- Players now receive no additional item based on their rating for the first two wins in each rated category (2vs2, 3vs3, 10vs10).
- Players now receive an additional item based on their best rating of the past week in each rated category (2vs2, 3vs3, 10vs10).
- At a PvP rating below 2000, the bonus items are of the “Gladiator” type, above 2000 of the “Elite” type.
- The bonus for the first win of the day now includes a significant artifact power reward.
- The increase in the reward for the first win of the day has been extended to all categories: skirmishes, 2vs2 arenas, 3vs3 arenas, and rated battlegrounds.
- The artifact power rewards have been increased.
