In World of Warcraft: Legion, there are some toys that players can use to simulate flying. We’ll tell you where to find the items.
Update: Blizzard has significantly nerfed the toys. The glider now has a cooldown of 15 minutes and the Brewmaster’s effect has been reduced. However, the glider is still worth it for emergencies.
The Dream of Flight in the Broken Isles
With each new expansion of World of Warcraft, players are first brought back to reality. Flying mounts remain stored or at least chained, as flying is not allowed for now. “Real” flying won’t be possible for a while, as it will only be enabled with a later patch and (as in Warlords of Draenor) will be tied to an achievement.
This doesn’t mean that you have to completely forgo the rushing wind around your ears on the Broken Isles! Two small toys help you at least somewhat fly, allowing you to quickly cover large distances within the game world. We’ll tell you how to obtain the Emerald Winds and Skyhorn Drakes made from Roc feathers.
For both toys, you need to head to Highmountain. No prerequisite quest is necessary, so you can immediately look out for both toys.
The Emerald Winds
Far to the west of Highmountain (near the place Riverbend), you will find a waterfall that leads down into the area of Val’Sharah. On a fairly large platform, you can spot the demigoddess Aviana, who wants to teach some druids how to fly. You too can participate in the lesson if you accept the quest. The goal of the quest is to touch a total of 6 out of 10 green orbs while “Gliding.” This is where the toy is buried: To obtain “Emerald Winds,” you must instead collect all 10 orbs! If you succeed, you will receive the achievement “Clutch of the Talon” and the item will become yours.
What do the Emerald Winds do?
The toy allows you to perform small “jumps” forward every 3 seconds, enabling you to move through the air. While you’ll inevitably lose altitude, it’s excellent for covering long distances. Many treasures in different areas can thus be easily obtained. Since direction can be readjusted with each jump, this type of movement is even relatively targeted.
But beware: The character still takes fall damage when landing! So make sure to make a last jump just before landing or activate other forms of protection (Ice Block, Slow Fall, Divine Shield, Levitate).
Skyhorn Drakes Made from Roc Feathers
The second toy can also be found in Highmountain, scattered around the settlement of Skyhorn. The toy is made from 4 items, which must all be found first. For convenience, we recommend using an interface addon that allows you to see coordinates on the map.

Once you have found all 4 parts, you just need to right-click to combine them into the new toy – and you’ll have the Skyhorn Drake!
What does the Skyhorn Drake made from Roc Feathers do?
The Skyhorn Drake functions exactly like a Goblin Glider used by engineers. However, it has the limitations of a 3-minute cooldown and only lasts for 1 minute. Additionally, this glider can only be used on the Broken Isles. However, it is not consumed upon use. Jumping from a high position (like a mountain peak) allows you to easily glide over an entire area.
Until there is actual flying in the areas of Legion, these two toys are probably the best effects for quick (and almost safe) travel in the Broken Isles. Enjoy!
