With patch 7.2 of World of Warcraft, Legendaries rain for the second and third specialization of your characters.
Yesterday, on 23.02.2017, Ion Hazzikostas, the Game Director of World of Warcraft, along with Community Manager Josh Allen, held a livestream with a large Q&A session. One topic that has developed into a real hot topic is legendary items and their distribution rates.
Ion Hazzikostas explained the rough plan for patch 7.2, which should make it significantly easier for players on a second or third specialization to obtain legendary items when they do not already have one for that specialization. Currently, the game checks how many legendary items a character has already received. The first legendary item has a greatly increased chance and drops very early, the second often follows a few days later. All further Legendaries then require more time/luck, as the additional bonus is gone. With patch 7.2, the game instead checks whether you already have a Legendary for your current specialization and adjusts your loot chances accordingly.
An example: Let’s say you are a Shadow Priest and already own two legendary items that are suitable for your shadow specialization. If you now switch to Holy, the game recognizes that you do not have a suitable Legendary for this specialization – you have therefore received “0 Legendaries” so far. As long as you now play Holy (and have chosen this loot specialization), the drop chance for the first and second Legendary of the Holy specialization is greatly increased again! This is to make it easier for players to switch specializations later without being forever damned to play the first specialization due to Legendaries already dropped.
However, one should take the statements with caution, as patch 7.2 is currently on the test realm and many details may change by the official release.
