Housing in World of Warcraft is about to launch. However, one group will not have its own neighborhoods.
Tomorrow is finally the day. Patch 11.2.7 launches in World of Warcraft, and with it comes the long-awaited Housing – at least for those who pre-ordered Midnight. But at the last minute, Blizzard made an announcement that many might not like. One type of neighborhood will not be available in the game immediately. Those who were looking forward to opening a neighborhood with their friends will have to wait.
What was announced? In the official WoW forum, Blizzard announced that there will be a few changes to Housing before the release of Midnight. They wanted to clarify one thing, namely that Early Access will only include Public Neighborhoods and Guild Neighborhoods. The Charter Neighborhoods will not be available tomorrow, December 3rd.
The reason for this is that Blizzard wants to see how the servers handle the load. In case of doubt, they want to stabilize the situation first, and by initially limiting neighborhoods to 2 out of 3 types, it is predictable how many neighborhoods will be created. Blizzard stated:
Our concern here is the performance and stability of the game while we release this very complex patch. We are focusing heavily on providing a performant game while players create numerous neighborhoods over the next days and weeks.
No neighborhoods for friends – later
What does this mean? In plain language, this means that everyone who had set their expectations on creating a neighborhood with their friends or communities will have to wait a while longer. If you really want to live with your friends, you will either have to move into a public neighborhood that still has enough space, or join a guild.
When will these neighborhoods come? When the “Charter” neighborhoods will be available is thus uncertain. It is possible that Blizzard will activate them after a few days if server load is stable and no major issues arise. However, it could also be that this last type of neighborhood will only appear with the release of Midnight in March 2026.
However, keep in mind that the Early Access of Housing is exactly that: an early access. There will likely be bugs and issues, and not all features are complete yet. This is more or less a first “live test” for Blizzard, so that everything runs smoothly by the time Midnight launches.
But even if you don’t want to start with Housing yet, you can already farm these cool decorations and furniture.
