World of Warcraft is currently offline. The patch 10.1.5 has caused issues – and Blizzard had to respond. The realms are offline.
Update 18:20: The realms are back online and World of Warcraft is accessible again.
Original report: “Never play on patch day” is an age-old rule that first-generation WoW fans still recall. That this rule still holds today is demonstrated by the patch 10.1.5: Rifts in Time. The update went live today, on 12th July 2023, and brought a new mega dungeon “Twilight of the Eternals” as well as plenty of other content.
However, there were also many problems. They were so severe that Blizzard now has to conduct an emergency maintenance.
What is happening with WoW? The servers have been completely offline since 14:00. Currently, you cannot play WoW.
When will the realms be back online? That is unknown. Blizzard has not provided a time estimate, so it could take several more hours. However, these maintenance periods usually end quite “spontaneously” and often only last a few hours. As soon as the realms are back online, we will update this article.
What kind of errors occurred? Although some errors were already fixed with hotfixes earlier, patch 10.1.5 caused quite a bit of chaos. Some of the errors included:
- Players could handle “Mythic+” at high levels solo in just a few minutes. A scaling error caused bizarre results.
- The micro menu is the wrong size.
- The “delete character” function is faulty and sometimes deletes the wrong character.
- Some of the new action bar animations do not work with macros.
- Some characters are stuck in limbo and are “not available” when logging in or receive the message “world server not found”.
