Don’t want to spend a lot of time in the depths of World of Warcraft – but you want the loot? With a little trick, you can be done in 30 minutes.
The weekly treasure chest is the best source of strong loot in World of Warcraft. Whether you’re completing dungeons, raids, depths, or open-world content – the chest offers a piece of loot each week that is significantly above the item level you would otherwise obtain from the corresponding content.
However, filling all the slots of the treasure chamber can be very tedious. Completing 8 depths is a lot to ask, especially if players don’t enjoy the depths – yet easy loot with an item level of 616 is on the line.
With a little trick, you can fill all 3 depth slots in about 30 minutes.
What is that trick? Normally, you would need to complete a total of 8 depths at level 8 to fill all 3 depth slots in the treasure chamber. Each depth takes between 10 and 25 minutes, depending on class and skill. This can take several hours.
To avoid this, simply go to Zekvir, the boss of the depths. Visit his depth and complete it on the difficulty “?” – a total of 8 times. Each takes between 3 and 5 minutes, so you can get the task done in just under 30 minutes.
Zekvir was significantly weakened a few days ago and should now be manageable at the “?” difficulty for pretty much all classes with an item level around 600. If you need any tips and tricks, we have a Zekvir guide for you here.
Once you do this, your treasure chamber is filled with 3 options at item level 616 – and you can repeat the procedure on secondary characters if you wish.
Why does this work? Although Zekvir is listed at a low difficulty as “?”, his difficulty equates to a level 8 depth – and that’s how it counts for the weekly treasure chamber. For the weekly treasure chest, it doesn’t matter whether you complete 8 “real” depths or go to Zekvir 8 times in a row and take revenge for all the times he killed you in the other depths.
Is this intended? Most likely: yes. After all, the fight against Zekvir has the “disadvantage” that it can never be “generous”. So there is no special reward chest and no experience points for Brann Bronzebeard. This is basically the downside of this strategy.
However, for those who want to secure some nice 616 items from the weekly chest and have no desire to stumble through depths of level 8 for hours, they can just keep beating Zekvir over and over and thus quickly check off this “obligation”. If you still prefer to play content like M+, you might want to play a Shaman – because he is currently by far the most popular healer.
