In WoW: The War Within the first season has started and it brings not only a raid instance, Mythic Plus dungeons, and rated PvP, but also new depths. But beware: If you play the open-world adventures incorrectly, you will lose the chance for strong loot.
What should I keep in mind in the depths? With Season 1 of WoW: The War Within, you can now find so-called “Generous Depths” in the new regions, four in total per day. Once you have successfully completed a “Generous Depth”, unlike normal depths, you cannot repeat it.
Apparently, only chests in these “Generous Depths” have a chance to contain a treasure map named “Bounty of the Depth Explorer” (via wowhead.com). With this item, you can activate an additional treasure for your next depth run, with the quality of the reward depending on the level of the depth at which you received the treasure map.

Loot with Item Level 610 is at Stake
This is how to get the best possible loot! If you activate such a treasure map for level 8, you will receive a piece of equipment with item level 610. In comparison, the “normal” loot from a “Generous Depth” of level 8 is item level 603.
Not only are the “Generous Depths” limited per day. You can apparently only farm a certain number of treasure maps for your character per week (three treasure maps per week and character). Additionally, you can only carry one treasure map with you at a time (via Reddit).
To ensure that they indeed provide the best possible loot, you should definitely avoid visiting “Generous Depths” with your main character while you are still completing low-level depths to reach level 8 or higher.
