The Gnome Heritage Armor in World of Warcraft comes with a special upgrade. Because Gnomes get more than just new clothing.
The upcoming Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara brings a ton of new features to World of Warcraft. In addition to the Heritage Armor for Tauren, Gnomes will finally also receive their “Heritage Armor.” This will be earned through a questline and offers an additional reward, exclusive to Gnomes. The questline begins with Patch 8.2 at the Embassy in Stormwind.
What requirements must be met? To start the questline, two requirements for your character must be fulfilled:
- A Gnome must be level 120
- The Gnome must be exalted with the faction “Gnomeregan”
The possibly missing reputation with Gnomeregan can be farmed quickly by simply wearing a tabard from Gnomeregan and running through old dungeons.
Team Formation in New Tinkertown: The first part of the questline takes place in New Tinkertown. Here you will be informed that the Alliance has agreed to fund a special unit of Gnomes – and the player will be a part of it. First, some members must be recruited before the team is sent on its first mission.
You will go down into the depths of Gnomeregan – the polluted city is still overrun with hostile creatures. A stealth mission with gnome camouflage devices finally brings the team to an “Arcane Engine” that needs to be recovered.
The first deployment in Northrend: No sooner has the engine been recovered than the team receives a distress call from far-off Northrend. The landing strip Crankshaft is under attack – the perfect location for the first mission of the Elite Gnomes.
Troggs are attacking the landing strip, and you must defend it against the attackers. You have a variety of weapons to choose from that correspond to the gnome (slightly crazy) engineering style. In addition to mechanical, exploding chickens, a death ray, and plenty of homing missiles, you can test some gnome inventions on your enemies.
After the majority of the troops have been eliminated, it’s time to deal with the leader. This Trogg seems smarter than the rest since he even rides a Mechano-Bot and leaves behind a communication device upon his death.
There’s a Gnome behind it all: After you manage to reverse the communication device and locate the original sender, the elite team discovers who is behind the attacks. “Telzo Sparkspanner” has not yet made an appearance but is one of Thermadraht’s officers in the lore – he was the Gnome who polluted and ultimately destroyed Gnomeregan.
The signal can be traced back to the Storm Peaks – the next mission point.
The entire area of the Storm Peaks is full of Troggs and other minions that Telzo Sparkspanner has exploited. There are several missions in which the Gnome team uses various devices (including a shrunk tank that grows back to normal size) to eliminate numerous Troggs. Piece by piece, the team fights through the Storm Peaks until they reach the gates of Ulduar.
The Halls of Stone: The final step leads into the Halls of Stone. The defenses of Ulduar have been reprogrammed so that the team is viewed as enemies there. In the final battle, it is against Tezlo and his most dangerous robot – the destruction of which also leads to Tezlo’s demise.
After the job is done, you go back to the camp, where the reward finally awaits.
The Heritage Armor has many screws: The Gnome Heritage Armor is not particularly spectacular but fits perfectly with the story of the Gnomes, who are indeed genius inventors. With many little pockets, screws, and gears, it visually corresponds perfectly with the impression of a slightly mad mechanic. Of course, especially stylish are the glasses that have been flipped up to keep the eyes more free.
A special feature for Gnomes: Particularly cool is that Gnomes will receive another item. The “G.E.A.R. Tracking Beacon” is an upgrade for the flight master’s whistle. It ensures that the Gnome will no longer be picked up by a boring Griffin but rather that an elite Gnome aircraft will come by! Anyone wanting to travel in style from one mission to the next should definitely get this item.
