Housing in World of Warcraft goes live today. We will tell you how to unlock your first house today and what you need to know.
Fans have waited 20 years, and now the time has finally come: World of Warcraft has player housing. To get you started today, we will show you everything you need to kick off with your own house. Don’t worry: It goes quickly, and you can start decorating your house in just a few minutes. Basically, there’s hardly anything that can go wrong.
How do you unlock the housing system in WoW? Once you log into the game with an existing character, you will automatically receive a quest. This will take you back to your own capital city (Stormwind or Orgrimmar). From there, you need to go into the respective portal room and take the new portal to the housing area.
Next, you simply follow the quest line. You need to greet the various NPCs in the housing area and can look at the different plots (also called “parcels” or “plots”) before deciding on a plot and paying the fee of 1,000 gold.
Finally, the quest line will show you how to place or remove decorations in the house.

Housing with Friends in World of Warcraft
How can I move into a neighborhood with friends? If you want to move into a neighborhood with friends, you must either be part of the same guild or move to the same neighborhood. You can enter your friends’ names in the search field at the neighborhood manager to find the neighborhood where they have their house. Alternatively, you can also search for neighborhoods where your desired plot is still free.
If you move to another neighborhood, the state of your house will be saved. It will be set up exactly as it was before in the old neighborhood, in the new neighborhood as well.
Later, there will also be a feature to create private neighborhoods. Then you can team up with 9 friends to create a neighborhood just for you. This feature will be unlocked later and is not available at the launch of housing.
Who can access housing? To use housing, you must have pre-ordered World of Warcraft Midnight for your account. Only then will you gain the ability to acquire a house yourself.
What if I’m completely new to WoW? If you take the release of housing as an opportunity to start with World of Warcraft, you first need to get through the intro experience on the Exiled Island – the starting area. This is usually completed within 1-2 hours. Afterwards, you will also receive a quest that seamlessly leads you to housing.
