Karazhan receives a lot of attention
Currently, there is quite a lot happening in the Warcraft universe. While initially fans of the trading card game Hearthstone enjoyed a new adventure, millions of heroes have recently flocked to Azeroth to push back the latest invasion of the Burning Legion in World of Warcraft. Most players simply enjoy smashing mobs and throwing game cards around the tavern. However, many don’t even know the reasons behind the chaos. To help you impress your friends with special knowledge in the future, let’s take a closer look at one of the most historic buildings in Azeroth: Karazhan.
Everything revolves around and in Karazhan
Starting from the WoW patch 7.1 , Karazhan plays an important role in Hearthstone once again. The magical structure hides numerous secrets and mocks all natural laws. As seen in the trailer for patch 7.1, ghosts appear on the dance floor in the magic tower, floors and ceilings are swapped, or a room disappears in a blue and endless whirl of Nether… but why? There is a logical explanation for that… uh, I mean a very simple explanation… well, let’s just say there is a special explanation for it.
If you are playing Legion, you have probably dealt with the Nightborne by now and stumbled upon the so-called ley lines in this context. Without going into too much detail, it can be said that these lines, according to the astral worldview, run underground and allow spiritual or magical energy to flow, basically the life force of the planet itself.
Are you now wondering what Karazhan has to do with this? It is located at a junction where several of these ley lines intersect! Therefore, a particularly high concentration of magic occurs at this location, which is why not only ghostly apparitions sneak through the corridors of the tower but also space and time can be more easily disrupted. This is exactly why it was possible for Medivh, the last resident and guardian of the tower, to communicate with Gul’dan, who marched in from Draenor, triggering the Horde invasion through the great portal and initiating the story of the very first Warcraft game.
