A secret mount is hidden in the latest patch of World of Warcraft. We reveal how you can unlock the undead horse.
In Patch 10.1.5 Rifts in Time, Blizzard has included plenty of secrets, especially in an “old” version of Naxxramas. In addition to the Tier 3 sets and cool transmogs, there’s also a special mount to discover that you can unlock relatively quickly.
We will show you how to unlock the undead mount “Valiance” (Tapferkeit) in this step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Unlock Naxxramas and the Merchant
If you have read our other guides, you can skip this step. For everyone else, there’s a bit of work waiting for you, as you need to unlock both the old Scholomance and Naxxramas, along with the secret merchant there. But don’t worry, we have detailed guides for all three steps that you can complete here in order:

Step 2: Buy the Decay
Once you have completed all of the above, head to Zackett Skullsmash, who should be located in the inner ring of Naxxramas. For 30 Death’s Munitions, you can purchase the item “Delightfully Rotting” from him.
If you don’t have any Death’s Munitions, you’ll need to farm Scourge Stones again, for example, from the bosses in Naxxramas. Remember that you can visit Naxxramas with multiple characters, as the Scourge Stones are account-bound.
Step 3: Feed the Horse
Now make sure you are in the 10-man version of Naxxramas and that you haven’t killed Instructor Razuvious yet. This boss must still be alive to complete the secret!
If you have already cleared Naxxramas once, wait until the next weekly reset.
Now proceed to the military quarter (southwest of the raid) and kill all trash mobs up to Razuvious, but not the enemies that are already part of the boss fight.
In the large room before Razuvious, you can see the undead horse Valiance far to the right. It is “unfriendly” and if you approach the horse, it pushes you away.
Try to slowly approach the horse while constantly using the item “Delightfully Rotting” until you eventually succeed.
Step 4: Find a Rider
Now head to the boss fight with Instructor Razuvious. Click on one of the two “Crystal of Obedience” to control one of the two adds via mind control. Guide this add to Valiance – the horse will accept it as a rider.
Now guide the add back to the boss arena. There, right-click on the portrait of the controlled add and select the option “Release” to end the control over the horse and rider.
Step 5: Kill the Boss
After you have released the add, it should immediately be angry at you. Kill the add and then immediately kill the boss – and the “Reins of Valiance” should appear as loot. Use the reins and the mount will be unlocked for all your characters. Congratulations!
