A quote from Blizzard makes fans of World of Warcraft pay closer attention. Because after housing, weddings in the game might follow soon.
Originally, it was supposed to be just the release trailer for the new housing feature in World of Warcraft, but the community noticed something. A small detail, which is further fueled by Blizzard. Because the trailer for housing shows a wedding in WoW. Now some believe: This could become a new feature.
What exactly was seen? In the above trailer, there is a small scene where many characters have gathered to apparently attend a wedding – clearly recognizable by the exchange of a ring. Under the video, a comment on YouTube asks: “Did you secretly announce player weddings there?”
The Warcraft YouTube account responded:
It won’t remain a secret for long if you tell everyone in the comment section.
For some, such a statement equates to an announcement, while others see it more as a playful comment from someone in the social media team without deeper meaning. However, the discussion has been triggered.
RP fans have been holding weddings in WoW for a long time
How likely is that? We already know that Blizzard has been working on several social features that should appeal to various groups of WoW fans for several months. Especially now, as the completion of the housing foundations is nearing its end, many developers should be able to turn to new projects again – and a wedding feature would be just right.
How would that fit into housing? The neighborhoods of housing are clearly the new social hub – and for everyone who does not primarily engage in PvE. Whether guilds, communities, or role-play enthusiasts – there is a lot to see in the neighborhoods, and something new can always be discovered on the properties of neighbors.
It seems logical that Blizzard would utilize this and incorporate even more social features. After all, starting at midnight, players can also work together on projects to earn community rewards.
It could be conceivable that married characters might work together on their houses in the future. This is a feature that was often requested during the beta and was possible from the start in other MMORPGs with good housing, such as WildStar.
However, it is also quite possible that the shown scene is merely meant to illustrate that role-players will use the neighborhoods for events and activities in RP – as a wedding is indeed just one possibility.
At the same time, it must be noted that the “holding up ring” animation of the blood elf does not currently exist in the game. Whether this was a bit of artistic freedom or if it genuinely hints at a new social feature for the future remains to be seen.
If you want to express a bit of artistic freedom in housing yourself, you should keep these 3 tips in mind.
