Feasts are important items in World of Warcraft, especially for raid players. With some changes, Blizzard is making it easier to create them with patch 8.1.
A bait and a new recipe: On the PTR of World of Warcraft, there is a new recipe for leatherworkers that allows them to catch Midnight Salmons better. Additionally, recipes for feasts have emerged that do not involve salmons at all.
Crafting feasts faster and easier
The expensive bait for leatherworkers: Leatherworkers have received a new recipe for a “Crimson Herring Bait” on the PTR. They can craft it with some expensive materials:
- 18x Hardened Storm Scale
- 40x Calcified Bone
- 30x Expulsom
- 15x Hydrocore
You can obtain Hydrocores by completing Mythic Dungeons or Mythic Keystone Dungeons. You get Expulsom from transmutations as an Alchemist or when you bring items to be scrapped.
The Crimson Herring Baits are currently soulbound upon pickup. Only leatherworkers can catch Midnight Salmons better. Whether this is intended and will remain so is still unclear.
The description of the bait is simply: “increases the chance to catch Midnight Salmons.” How high this chance actually is, is also still unknown.
Feasts from Blood Cells: According to a recipe from the PTR database of wowhead, it is possible with patch 8.1 to create feasts entirely without Midnight Salmons. The new recipe “Sanguinated Feast” has emerged.
The Sanguinated Feast requires the same ingredients as the Sumptuous Captain’s Feast, only it does not include Midnight Salmons. Instead, you cook it with Blood Cells that you obtain from raid bosses from Uldir.
- The final boss of an LFR wing has a Blood Cell.
- Normal bosses have a Blood Cell.
- Heroic bosses have 10 Blood Cells.
- Mythic bosses have 20 Blood Cells.
Blood Cells are currently mainly needed for crafting equipment. Since many professions and players cannot use them, some players will soon have Blood Cells left over and can use them in feasts.
The Sanguinated Feast increases a stat by 100, just like the Sumptuous Captain’s Feast. Therefore, it is just as suitable for raid preparation as its predecessor.
