Many professionals in World of Warcraft can currently farm unlimited equipment. The reason for this is a bug that grants characters unlimited gear.
In a few days, the “Race to World First” begins, where the goal is to clear the raid “Palace of the Nerub-ar” on mythic difficulty first by defeating all bosses. Such races are quite popular in World of Warcraft, and the largest guilds usually host many live streams to follow the race.
However, to gain an advantage, game bugs are often exploited, and these “exploits” are heavily used to ensure the best possible starting conditions. Xyronic from Limit has now informed and warned about one of these exploits: Don’t use it, or you risk a ban.
Exploit in WoW grants unlimited items
What kind of exploit is this? Basically, in World of Warcraft, bosses in raids can only be defeated once per week on a certain difficulty to be eligible for loot. After that, you have a “loot ID” and cannot receive any loot from the boss until the weekly reset.
This is also the case in The War Within. However, new with the addon is that you have a chance to receive an item bound to the war mob for all content. This chance is additional to the normal loot and grants items that are somewhat worse than the actual boss loot.
The problem now seems to be: This chance for “bonus loot” occurs every time you kill a boss – regardless of whether you already have a loot ID.
This leads to some particularly “ambitious” players having defeated the heroic raid 15 times already. They not only have a complete tier set fully equipped in the first week but also many of the best-in-slot items that they could subsequently upgrade. Even if these items are not quite as strong as those from the regular boss loot, the difference at maximum upgrade is minimal.
Should one exploit this? No, definitely not. Just a few days ago, Blizzard made it very clear regarding another offense, where some had cheated to gain high glory levels, that they intend to take a tough stance against exploits. They want to actively combat the mentality of “Exploit early, exploit often.” Therefore, one can assume that exploiting this bug will also result in penalties – especially when some players have exploited the error not just once but up to 15 times.
