World of Warcraft is turning into a grindfest with Patch 7.2 – at least for raiders, that’s what they say at Exorsus.
The professional guild Exorsus emerged as the winner of the coveted “World First Kill” of Gul’Dan in the mythic version of The Nighthold. In a long interview, they talked about the success and the thrill when everything finally goes according to plan – but also about the future, where new content not only improves the game. Especially the renewed grind for artifact power raises concerns.
Overall, much too much effort has been necessary to be raid-ready at the highest level. Collecting all the traits of the artifact weapon has been quite a torture even on one character. If you pair that with the necessity to also have luck to get the “right” legendaries, the endeavor of a professional guild with “World First” ambitions borders on madness.
“That was my last raid! … Okay, I’ll join again!”
There is also disappointment about the prospects that the upcoming Patch 7.2 “Tomb of Sargeras” brings.
„It looks like 7.2 will bring many new traits and knowledge levels for the artifact weapon, which means that the grind is coming back. Spending a month or more preparing for this and getting almost nothing back is too much. Almost every new game (not just from Blizzard) gets “a little love” when it comes to events, like tournaments or show matches. (…) Nonetheless, Blizzard gives no attention to the PvE scene, even though it is more popular than Heroes of the Storm or the tournaments of other games.”
Another player added that such a reaction is quite normal:
„After every major part of an expansion, many of our raiders say “OMG, that was my last raid.” But that’s only because they are exhausted after the race. Give them a week or two, and they are ready again to bash more demon heads.”
