Argus in World of Warcraft is full of fun references and Easter eggs about the Draenei. We present to you a few highlights.
With Patch 7.3 of World of Warcraft, players entered Argus, the former homeworld of the Eredar, or the present-day Draenei. As one of the oldest races in the history of Warcraft, the characters there have long stories and many traditions. The colleagues at wowhead have unearthed plenty of Easter eggs that can be found on Argus, but are only understood if one knows the context. We want to introduce you to some of them.
Hakmud of Argus
Having a vendor on all journeys is also a good thing in World of Warcraft. That’s why many players have had the reins of the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth since Wrath of the Lich King – a mount with two vendors. One of them is the Draenei “Hakmud of Argus”. Now Argus is in the game, and Hakmud can finally visit his former home.
If you throw him off the mount on Argus, he has a few special quotes ready:
- “You bring Hakmud home and then leave him behind.”
- “Hakmud must never relax. Not even on his own world!”
- “I didn’t want to visit my namesake or anything. Goodbye!”
But that’s not all. Hakmud is also hanging around as an independent NPC in Mac’Aree and seems to have finally found peace.
Jaraxxus as Draenei
A little less hidden is Highlord Jarasum, whom players meet in the quest line “Challenge of the Gatekeeper: Mastery”. Those who click through the quest dialogues (one can get additional info) learn that Jarasum later becomes Lord Jaraxxus – a boss in the Argent Tournament.
However, this can also be easily guessed by his quotes during the fight. He says:
- “You stand before Jarasum, Highlord of the Conservatory!”
That will later become: - “You stand before Jaraxxus, Eredar Lord of the Burning Legion!”
But he also uses another line in both forms:
- “Your arrogance will be your downfall!”
Also, the other Draenei in the quest line later become corrupted Eredar and servants of the Legion, but they are not as prominent as Jaraxxus. By the way, he has achieved quite extraordinary fame:
The Jed’hin Tournament
In the fields of Mac’Aree, there is a world quest in the north – the Jed’hin Tournament. Here players can take on the roles of Eredar fighters and beat each other up.
But did you know that this was originally not part of Draenei lore at all? It was originally a RP event from the Wyrmrest Accord server. Due to a lack of Draenei lore, players simply invented a traditional fight for male Draenei, which was then played out in roleplay. The concept was later transferred to several roleplay servers (also to “The Aldor”) and thus became popular worldwide.
Now Blizzard has honored this player concept and made it a permanent part of the lore!
Kil’Jaeden’s Speech
One last world quest offers players who hunger for more story some big bites as well. In Mac’Aree, the world quest “Platform of Power” is sometimes active, where players must locate a Legion agent who has infiltrated the residents of Argus. You can see Kil’Jaeden giving a speech and trying to convince as many Draenei to join the Burning Legion and open up to the glory of Sargeras.
While the speech alone is likely to send a shiver down the spine of some players, you can observe the many other Eredar who have gathered.

Among them is also the little boy Rakeesh – Velen’s son, whom we kill during the attack on the Exodar. Next to him sits Nuuri, presumably Velen’s wife.
Those who look closely will recognize many more echoes of former characters who are now scattered everywhere. Among them is also “Valok the Just”, whom Draenei Death Knights must kill during their starting mission.
What do you think of the lore Easter eggs on Argus? Did you even notice them? Or does it leave you cold?
