The Mythic+ Dungeon Invitational now leads to restrictions for all players in World of Warcraft. Was war der Wunsch dahinter?
With the World of Warcraft Mythic+ Dungeon Invitational, Blizzard held the first “real” PvE tournament for group dungeons last week. Players had to compete in 5-player teams and tackle various dungeons in a time trial. Only those who perfectly coordinated their group had any chance of victory.
The tournament was also admired by Blizzard’s developers – such as Morgan Day, the Lead Encounter Designer, who is largely responsible for dungeons and raids. In an interview with Forbes, he reveals what changes to instances will be made based on the experiences from the Invitational.
According to Day, many small things were changed before the tournament. For example, players could no longer use the “Swapblaster”. This toy allowed players to swap positions with another character in the group. The particularly mobile Demon Hunters jumped to elevated locations like cliffs, and the rest of the team teleported after them. This allowed certain sections of a dungeon to be skipped.
Fewer combat resurrections in dungeons
Another issue that the developers noticed was the combat resurrections, the “Battlerezz”. Many teams came with four or even five characters capable of resurrecting in combat. There is already a restriction in the raids that limits the number of combat resurrections that can be performed. In the future, this system will also be implemented in dungeons.
In simple terms: Because some players can have minimal advantages in a dungeon by combining certain abilities or toys, this might now be restricted for all players.
