A micro-holiday entices with half-naked elves and wet and merry bathing fun. The dance of a thousand boats awaits in just a few days!
In World of Warcraft a new in-game event started yesterday. The “Dance of a Thousand Boats” is a micro-holiday during which players are lured into the Thousand Needles area. Here, from June 6 to June 8, most major seafarers gather to celebrate seamanship and simply enjoy a great time. You can best reach Thousand Needles through the portal to the Caverns of Time in Dalaran.
In the Thousand Needles area, you will receive a buff that grants you a fast boat on the water surface – this provides a whopping 330% bonus to movement speed!
In general, there are several things to discover at the event, especially in the eastern part of the area (the large “lake”). Various NPCs, fishing opportunities, and mini-games can be found here. Oh – and of course half-naked high and blood elves. They are just part of it.
Dance of a Thousand Boats brings the Turbo Boat for one week
If you want, you can craft your own boat here that will remain usable in your inventory for 7 days. You can also navigate across the Broken Isles at breakneck speed – because the boat is even a touch faster than epic flying mounts.
To craft the boat, you only need to complete all the available world quests in Thousand Needles – after the “circuit”, there are still 4 more missions. Then you look for the submarine that circles the surface of the water and track it. Occasionally, fish and “schools” of oil will appear behind the boat, which you can either click on or fish in. Collect 20 submarine tar and then combine all items for your little boat that works anywhere in the world!
And one last tip: Don’t let the submarine run over you. This causes many players to experience an instant crash of the game.
