Currently, the Brewfest is running in WoW BC Classic – however, it did not start exactly as fans of the game were used to from before. A small change led to one of the most coveted rewards not being available in the game, which caused dissatisfaction – even if only briefly.
What kind of festival is this? The Brewfest is WoW’s version of the German Oktoberfest. Fest tents have been set up in front of the cities of Orgrimmar and Ironforge, and you can complete daily quests related to beer here.
The rewards include event tokens, which you can use to purchase various cosmetics. The Brewfest started shortly after the opening of Phase 2, on September 20, and runs until October 6 in both WoW BC Classic and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
However, there was a problem in the Classic version, as the “wrong” festival had originally been released.
Why was it “wrong”? Fans expected the Brewfest version from 2007. Instead, they received the one from Patch 2.4.3, under which The Burning Crusade is currently running. However, that patch didn’t come until about a year later.
At least part of the community was not satisfied with this – although this time it wasn’t even about the discussion of changes vs. “everything as it was back then” (via reddit.com). Because something essential was missing in the game due to the new version.
A new item provides one of the rarest mounts
This is why the wrong festival was a problem: During Brewfest 2007, the Brewfest Ram was available for the first time, a mount with +60 % movement speed, making it a “blue” mount. However, it was also the last time it was available in 2007.
Since Patch 2.4.3 and thereafter, only the epic variant, the Swift Brewfest Ram, can be obtained. The “smaller” mount has not been available since then, and anyone who did not earn it back then no longer has a chance to get it.
The event mounts are the only way for Horde players to acquire a ram as a mount. Accordingly, the community was excited that this particular mount was missing.
How Blizzard reacted: Just a few hours after the event was launched, there was a hotfix that brought the item “Handstamp ‘Honor Brewer'” into the game. This allows you to unlock both rams.
However, the stamp costs 600 Brewfest tokens, which realistically is only possible if you play almost every day and farm all available tokens. The tokens are available for daily quests and a task where you need to deliver barrels while riding.
The Brewfest Ram may not be one of the best or prettiest mounts, but it is one of the rarest. Many WoW fans who started playing after 2007 will likely be excited about the opportunity.
