The Winter Veil festival allows for a nasty trick in Alterac Valley of WoW Classic, with which players can surprise their enemies. But beware, this might backfire…
In World of Warcraft: Classic, most action currently takes place in Alterac Valley – both on PvP and PvE realms. Here, players can farm Honor most effectively, and many want to reach a high rank to purchase strong PvP gear. At the same time, there is another event going on in World of Warcraft: Classic – the Winter Veil festival. This creates some funny moments and enables a nasty trick.
Do you already know the realm where the Alliance has lost all hope?
What kind of trick is this? In Alterac Valley, players can loot special snowballs as long as the Winter Veil festival lasts. These snowballs have a knockback effect and can be thrown not only at enemies but also at allied characters – including the bosses Vanndar Stormpike and Drek’thar.
This can be exploited to shove the bosses directly into opposing players who are actually outside the aggro range. What that looks like is shown in this short clip:
What is the danger of this trick? However, the trick can also backfire significantly. If the bosses draw aggro from players in this way, any commanders that might still be present in the bunker will not be pulled along. If the attackers are already significantly outnumbered, there is a risk that they will kill the boss directly without having to defeat the commanders (or take down towers).
However, this should only happen in rare cases – as a rule, the bosses reset quite quickly when they are at the entrance area.
Will this be fixed? That is uncertain; Blizzard has not commented on this yet. This effect can only be achieved during the weeks of the Winter Veil festival. However, whether this was also possible in the “Vanilla” version or only affected players back then is hard to say today – players’ memories differ on this.
What do you think about this little trick? A fun thing or totally annoying and should it be turned off?
