In a forum post, the developers discuss some updates for WoW Classic. A lot has happened since the beta at Blizzcon, and player feedback has clearly been very helpful. There is little new information regarding the release.
These are the updates: After many pieces of feedback from players who have played Classic as a demo, Blizzard has revised numerous aspects. In a official forum post, a short and still incomplete list was published:
- Items with the corresponding property now increase the chance of a critical hit by X%.
- Rogues regenerated energy too quickly, which has now been fixed.
- Jumps are no longer slowed by “Slow Fall”.
- Hits from ranged weapons and wands now reset the casting time.
- Dodging, parrying, and missing occurred less frequently than intended.
Among other things, there were issues with health regeneration and critical hits. This was actually a problem that the developers explicitly tested before the demo and still occurred. It showed some difficulties with the testing environment and the servers.

What do the changes mean? With the updates, Blizzard is further approaching the state that WoW Classic really had at the planned patch state 1.12. This should ensure the feeling of truly playing WoW Classic.
However, there are also unpleasant things. Some players have criticized that the demons of a warlock disappeared when they started to summon a new one. They believe it should only disappear once the summoning is complete.
According to Blizzard, it is precisely the case that a demon disappears at the start of the new spell. This is one of the things that were “unpleasant” in Classic.

This is what is said about the release: There is still no new information about the release. It is only said that you might look forward to a “Classic summer”.
There is also the note that more information will follow soon (not “soontm“).
What do you think of the updates? Are you excited about WoW Classic?
The Classic servers will use a technology called “sharding.” This is what sharding entails.
