The YouTube channel Smosh Games is known for its successful parodies. Whenever a new movie or game is released, the channel takes on that title and creates an “Honest Trailer” out of it. You can watch these in English here.
What are the Honest Trailers? Free from any “PR nonsense,” the Honest Trailers always tell, without mercy, what the game is about or what thoughts players had while gaming. Most of the time, it’s quite funny, as is the case with World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.
Cynical comments with a hint of truth: As usual with the Honest Trailers, World of Warcraft is also dissected with a wink. For example, the expansions are referred to as “randomly placed new continents on the map” or the Allied Races as “reskins with new horns… or whatever”.
Nevertheless, this Honest Trailer is relatively harmless and praises WoW in some aspects. It is the game that “has passed the test of time and is still good after 14 years – or at least good enough for people to keep paying their subscription fees.”
