The character portraits have been buggy and unsightly in World of Warcraft (WoW) for a long time – this is something that wants to be fixed in the future.
More Beautiful Models, Sharper Portraits in World of Warcraft
With the launch of World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard fundamentally revised the old player character models. The result is better graphics, smoother animations, and detailed facial expressions that replaced the wooden models that were more than a decade old. However, a small flaw remains, even if it is only indirectly related to the new look.
As the characters were revamped, the character portrait also had to be adjusted. Exactly that, which is located in the upper left of the interface for most players. However, they have not coped well with the enhancement: The heads displayed are smaller, the camera angle seems inappropriate, and the graphical quality often resembles an origami figure rather than a beautiful face with soft features.
This display error is not new; it has existed since the launch of Warlords of Draenor – so far longer than a year. On Twitter, the user “Hoodly” recently complained with a poster about this to draw attention to the issue again.
Accordingly, one refrains from displaying the new models (can be set in the options) until this error has been fixed. The developers of WoW have even been prompted to respond.
The developers thus want to address the problem and fix it. There is still no specific date for this. By the time Legion is released, the portraits should again serve their purpose: to present the character compactly and attractively.
