The dungeon system of World of Warcraft is being slightly changed again. There are now better badges much earlier – and thus more upgrades for the heroes.
The dungeon system in World of Warcraft is a good way to obtain some of the best gear in the game. However, many players are still not entirely happy with the first season of The War Within. Some dungeons are simply very difficult, while others reward too little. Blizzard has listened to the community’s feedback and is implementing two types of changes:
There are better rewards earlier and the hardest dungeons will be nerfed.
What is the problem? Currently, the fun in the dungeons of the “Mythic+” category is reduced for some. Especially dungeons at +8 are extremely hard and regularly lead to groups breaking apart – and this is despite the fact that Mythic+8 does not yield good rewards, which only start at Mythic+9. Therefore, “Mythic+8” is for many a wall of effort and frustration that hardly brings anything.
What has been changed? Blizzard has announced a whole series of changes. Some of these are effective immediately and are already live, while others will follow with the weekly maintenance on Wednesday.
In short, this means:
- The Xal’atath affixes in the dungeons now grant stronger buffs for player characters.
- Mythic badges are now available starting from Mythic+8 instead of Mythic+9.
- The Necrotic Wake and the Theater of Pain are easier.
Changes that are live now
- Runed Forerunner Badge now drops up to Mythic+7. (previously up to Mythic+8)
- Golden Forerunner Badge now drops starting from Mythic+8. (previously from Mythic+9)
- The positive Xal’atath buffs in the dungeon now last 30 seconds (instead of 20 seconds).
- Xal’atath’s Guile now increases enemy health and damage dealt by 10% (previously 20%).
Changes that will appear on October 16, 2024
The Necrotic Wake
- The periodic damage from Wrath of Zolramus from the Zolramus Warden has been reduced by 25%.
- Skeleton Monstrosity now grants 20% more progress for defeating enemy forces.
- Kyrian Weapons
- The effect of Bloodied Javelin is no longer stackable.
- Surgeon Fleshweaver
- Health points have been reduced by 20%.
- Fleshweaver’s Withering Rot now deals 30% less damage.
Theater of Pain
- Skarmory
- Health points have been reduced by 10%.
- Skarmory is now stunned for 4 seconds after the fortified shell is destroyed (previously 2 seconds).
- Skarmory’s Crystalline Eruption now deals 15% less damage.
- Void Speaker Eirich
- Health points have been reduced by 10%.
- The cooldown for Entropic Reckoning has been increased.
What do you think of these adjustments? Good and sensible, so that the dungeons at the challenging threshold of +7 are more enjoyable again? Or is it too early for the really good badges as a reward?
Totally unlike in Mythic+, it went for the players who were completely new: They literally could not lose and were immortal.
