Two new mounts have landed in the shop of World of Warcraft. Players are really angry about it.
Last night, the shop in World of Warcraft got an influx of new mounts once again. The two alabaster mounts, which were originally available in the Collector’s Edition for the 15th anniversary of World of Warcraft, are now available in the shop as well. Those who want the two mounts have to shell out a proud 25€. It’s not surprising that this is only “medium” well-received by the community.
There are a lot of thumbs down: The two announcement videos of the mounts have already received a lot of thumbs down after just one day. The English video has 16,000 downvotes, which is over 90% of the ratings given. There are also a lot of nasty comments that seem to strike a nerve with many players. For example, Kai writes (translated):
“[The mounts are] a good metaphor for the current state of World of Warcraft: The same stuff you remember, but the color, the life, and the soul have been ripped out.”
Under the German video, LetsEinfallslos002 comments:
“25 Euros for unpainted mounts for the birthday as THE BIG THING for the fans for the 15th anniversary. HA, I say, HA! I laugh!”
In summary, the sale of these two mounts at the price of 25€ and especially in the context of World of Warcraft’s anniversary is received very poorly.
The sale was already announced earlier: Blizzard had already revealed in advance that the mounts would also be available in the shop later and are not exclusively tied to the Collector’s Edition, yet the fans are still angry. The sheer number of mounts in recent months is seen by many players as simply outrageous and they do not understand why a subscription-based game needs that.
What is your opinion on the two alabaster mounts? Do you like them and would you pay 25€ for them? Or are you avoiding the mounts altogether?
