No new system in World of Warcraft without a reporting feature. Even in housing, you have to adhere to rules.
In World of Warcraft, the release of housing is approaching. Only about 6 weeks left, and then all players can finally move into their own homes – at least if they have pre-ordered “Midnight”. This brings a lot of new freedoms to express yourself and create a nice home for your avatar. But such a feature also requires additional security measures, which in this case come from community monitoring. Because those who cause trouble with housing can be reported.
What has been discovered? In the latest alpha version of Midnight, a new function has been discovered in housing that aims to ensure law and order. From now on, you can report player residences and their arrangement if they violate rules. However, this is probably not about your aesthetic feelings but only about clear rule violations.
MrGM shows in a short clip on X how reporting looks in action:
Maximum freedom means there will be problems
Why can homes and decorations be reported? The reason lies in the potential freedom that housing offers. Since you can freely decide how to arrange decorations in housing, all sorts of malicious activities can be undertaken, such as creating hate messages from decorations or incorporating unwanted symbols – like genitalia or swastikas – into the neighborhood landscape.
If you see someone doing such things in their garden or house while housing, you can access a menu by clicking on the foundation stone of the house and then report the offense – along with a screenshot showing the respective surroundings.
Having such a reporting feature integrated from the start seems like a good thing. Because we already know from the past that players sometimes live out their freedom a bit too much and tear down boundaries.
But even more is changing in WoW soon – the game is supposed to function without add-ons.
