Turning an enemy into a sheep is one of the oldest tricks in World of Warcraft. With Battle for Azeroth, shamans and mages can now be even more creative in causing their mischief!
Two new spell variants for mages and shamans. This has been discovered by the data miners at wowhead. Both classes have new options to customize their transformation spell in Battle for Azeroth.
Mages get Bumblebees and Terrorhorns
The spell “Polymorph” is one of the oldest spells for crowd control. It started only with the option for sheep. Over time, other options like pigs, monkeys, and penguins were added. In Battle for Azeroth, Polymorph gets at least two more variants:
- “Polymorph – Bumblebee” turns the target into a bumblebee.
- “Polymorph – Baby Direhorn” turns the target into a baby Terrorhorn.
How these spells are obtained is still not known. However, they will likely be purchasable in the form of tomes, just like the previous alternatives.
Hybrids and Skeletons for Shamans
Shamans can also look forward to new alternatives. The spell “Hex” has a similar effect to the mage’s Polymorph. So far, shamans have frogs, cockroaches, or compys available. They also get new variants with Battle for Azeroth:
- “Hex – Wicker Mongrel” turns the target into a cursed forest beast.
- “Hex – Skeletal Hatchling” turns the target into a small skeletal dinosaur.
At least for the skeletal variant of the spell, it is already known how you can acquire it. The boss “Rezan” in the dungeon Atal’Dazar drops a corresponding tome, with which you can learn the new spell.
It seems likely that the other spells can be learned this way as well. Only the source still needs to be confirmed – or the costs, if they can simply be purchased. Whether additional variants will expand the classes’ spell repertoire is still uncertain.
