The Argus Portal Stones in World of Warcraft have once again become obsolete. We reveal what will happen to the new currency.
In long-standing MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, there is a variety of currencies that players can use to purchase different things in the game. Over time, some currencies fall prey to a revision when they become outdated or too complicated.
However, no currency was as short-lived as the Argus Portal Stones. These have now been available in World of Warcraft for almost two weeks and are already being removed from the game.
Argus Portal Stones were obtained for completing world quests in the new areas of Argus and for finishing smaller invasion points.
The idea behind these portal stones was that every week you had to complete a quest to unlock the larger invasion points and thus a world boss. However, this would have been a particularly annoying step in the long term, which the developers have now realized.
In the official forum, Community Manager Ornyx explained that there are three changes planned:
- Argus Portal Stones will be completely abolished. Anyone who still has some will be compensated with a small amount of Veiled Argunite.
- The weekly quest that requires turning in Argus Portal Stones now requires players to complete 3 invasions.
- The cap for Veiled Argunite will be raised from 1500 to 2000 to simplify the transition, so no player exceeds the cap.
These changes are scheduled for the next maintenance – that is, September 13. The Argus Portal Stones have been disliked by most players since their introduction. They serve no real purpose, you can’t actually buy anything with them, nor can you spend them. Since you cannot hold more than the cap of 40, the excess portal stones will be sent to the player via mail afterward. For this reason, the mailbox continues to fill up with messages about “Argus Portal Stones” – a form of spam.
What do you think about this sudden change of mind by Blizzard? Better late than never? Or should they have let the system run for a few more weeks?
But something else is disappearing – or is already gone. Prince Farondis is missing!
