With the slogan “A new era has begun,” Blizzard has been advertising since yesterday that for just €14.99, all expansions up to and including Cataclysm are now included for free in the base game of World of Warcraft. With this version, it is possible to enjoy yourself in Azeroth up to level 85.
This is of course extremely appealing for those who want to start now or have been considering embarking on an adventure in World of Warcraft for some time. A good step, as I can well imagine that multiple purchasable expansions can be confusing and may represent a barrier to entry—especially for new players. Following the motto: “What do I exactly need now and what might I have to forego if I skip two expansions?”.
But even players who already own the base version benefit from this change. For former players, for example, such a gift can certainly entice them to re-enter the world of Azeroth.
Only Mists of Pandaria, that is, the level range from 86 to 90 and the content associated with the addon, are not included in this package. The Pandaren expansion must therefore still be purchased separately.
