Things are happening in the World First Race of World of Warcraft. Team Liquid takes the lead – but then Echo coolly passes by.
The race for the World First Kill of Queen Ansurek in the first raid of World of Warcraft The War Within is in full swing. This time it’s truly a neck-and-neck race, as the best guilds in the world are all extremely close together. The differences are so small that exploits are frequently employed to gain an advantage – as was the case recently with Team Liquid.
Now the challenging 6th boss of the raid has finally fallen. But shortly after Team Liquid achieved this, Echo was already able to catch up.
What happened? The 6th boss in the Palace of Nerub-ar, Nexus Princess Ky’veza, was defeated by Team Liquid after many days of failure. The US guild secured the victory after previously facing heavy criticism over an exploit.
But the lead didn’t hold. A few hours later – this morning – the European guild Echo was finally able to overcome this hurdle as well. Not only was Echo able to defeat the Nexus Princess second, but they also overtook Team Liquid and surpassed the lead on the next boss “The Silk Court” – albeit narrowly.
Echo and Method are still just at the beginning of the Silk Court. Currently, the best pull is at 83.94% remaining health – just a few seconds after the fight started.
This is the current status: At the time of research (as of September 23, 11:15 AM), the ranking in the World First Race looks as follows:

It should be noted that the guilds standing at 5 out of 8 are often also very close to the kill. For example, Method just had a pull where the Nexus Princess was left with only 1.28% of her health – just seconds separated the guild from the killing blow (via raider.io).
The race to clean the Palace of Nerub-ar is as exciting as it rarely is in the World First Race of World of Warcraft. Anyone interested in this race will definitely find a lot to enjoy here – including plenty of drama surrounding exploits and a bit of gossip on Twitter. Almost like a bonus to excellent gameplay from the best players in the world. Some classes will soon be even stronger – which should help more guilds make progress.
