Feast of the Fishes
The so-called “buff food”, or enhancing food, is required by most raid groups in World of Warcraft. The general rule is that everyone must take care of their own food. However, sometimes you’re lucky and someone provides a so-called “feast.” These are especially large portions that an entire raid group can feast on.
Because this saves gold, everyone generally grabs a feast right away – without paying attention to the finer details.
This is where the “Feast of the Fishes” comes into play. This feast does not bring a buff effect like increasing primary stats, but something completely different. To quote the item:
“If you spend at least 10 seconds eating, you will become full and gain all the properties of a fish.”
As for “the properties of a fish”, this is primarily a rather cruel circumstance: You cannot breathe on land. This means that characters who have sampled the feast are turned into a fish and lose a few percent of their health every second until they realize the mistake.
There is hardly anything more delightful than the many “/thank you” in the chat when you provide a feast and only afterwards everyone realizes that it was actually just a secret, very slow hit …
Where can I find the Feast of the Fishes? You can obtain the Feast of the Fishes in the “Legion” expansion through cooking. Here you need to have the reputation level “Good Friend” with Keeper Raynae in Val’sharah – she is one of the “Fish Friends” in Legion, with a different one active every day.
However, you can also buy the Feast of the Fishes in the auction house from players who have crafted it for you. This way, you don’t have to farm too much, as reputation gathering with Raynae can take several hours on its own.
