Kael’thas Sunstrider and the Fools’ Crew
Anyone who was an active raider during the expansion The Burning Crusade will remember the massive fight against Kael’thas Sunstrider in the Tempest Keep. The fight was loaded with many emotions as Kael’thas was a popular hero from Warcraft III and one of the most well-known characters from the Warcraft universe.
If you don’t remember the fight so well: He had a total of 5 different phases! In the first phase, you fought against Kael’thas’ advisors – one after another. They were not difficult, and the whole effort actually consisted of positioning the corpses of the advisors so that they would be “convenient” when resurrected. It was the boring prelude to an actually interesting fight.
But it got really annoying in phase 4. Here, players had to equip legendary weapons that were only made available for this fight. Each weapon had a special effect that was important for surviving the battle. You could set up protection barriers or reduce the damage taken.
Now and then, Kael’thas took multiple players under mind control. Now it was the tanks’ job (specifically: warriors) to grab the legendary dagger and beat the converted players with it because that had a chance to break the mind control. The downside was that hardly any tank had skilled the weapon ability “Daggers,” which meant that most hits missed!
No wonder, since daggers are not exactly the typical weapon for warriors. Therefore, if you wanted to be taken into the raid, you had to raise your dagger skill to 375 beforehand. And that could take quite a long time.
With increasing equipment, the tasks could also be distributed so that rogues did the job – but that took a long time.
On the last page, a slimy opponent awaits, for whom frost mages were essential!
