Players of World of Warcraft can now grab some gifts in the game to celebrate the 11th anniversary of the MMORPG.
Awaken the Edwin within you!
Once again, World of Warcraft has aged a year. Now the game is celebrating its 11th anniversary, and even though there isn’t a big event like last year’s anniversary, there are still a few special items for players. Anyone logging in to the game in the coming weeks will find mail from the development team in their mailbox.
The highlight is probably the Edwin VanCleef costume, which allows players to step into the shoes of the misunderstood (and quite dead) leader of the Defias for 50 times, each lasting 10 minutes.
Achievement hunters can look forward to a replica of the sword Thunderfury – every character can equip it, but it only has 5 charges. Upon first use, the achievement “Did someone say …?” is awarded, reminiscent of the conversations in trade chat that still exist today about the blade.
Aside from that, there are 2 wands with which you can temporarily put group members into a Murloc costume or transform them into a Gnoll. Both wands also have 5 charges.
Lastly, there is a XP booster that can be used infinitely and increases both the XP gained and reputation from killing enemies by 11% for an hour. However, the booster will disappear at the end of the celebrations.
If you can’t get enough of these items, you should just create new characters or log in with all your twinks – both Thunderfury and the wands are account-bound.
