A YouTuber compared the vocabulary of three German content creators using data analysis: Papaplatte, ApoRed, and MaiThink. The Twitch streamer came in last place.
What exactly did the YouTuber compare? The YouTuber IT Kompass focuses on IT and data analysis on his YouTube channel. For his latest YouTube video, he compared a part of the vocabulary of three German content creators: MaiThink, ApoRed, and Papaplatte.
For this, IT Kompass used Python scripts to download the automatic subtitles from YouTube videos. He then removed the timestamps and repetitions from the texts to obtain a clean transcript.
He then subjected these transcripts to various examinations to find out the vocabulary as well as frequently used words.
Papaplatte talks the most but uses fewer unique words
What was the outcome? In first place is the YouTuber MaiThink. According to IT Kompass, she has the largest vocabulary and the most complex longer terms.
Per 100 words, she averages 14.3 new words. However, this is no surprise since she primarily uploads scientific content on YouTube and explains complex issues.
In second place is ApoRed. Per 100 words, he averages 9.9 new words. Thus, Papaplatte takes third place. He comes to an average of 5.6 new words per 100 words.
What else did the YouTuber look at? Then IT Kompass analyzed the topics the YouTubers spoke about. ApoRed talks the most about wealth and conflict.
IT Kompass believes ApoRed and Papaplatte have similarities in their vocabulary. They particularly often use hype adjectives
such as awesome
, intense
, or extreme
.
In absolute numbers, Papaplatte surpasses the other two because he simply talks many more words overall. Also in terms of Anglicisms, Papaplatte is well ahead of the others.
That Papaplatte uses many Anglicisms probably does not surprise most. After all, the Twitch streamer is more or less known for it, and it can almost be credited to him as his trademark. For a Pro7 show, for example, an interpreter was also engaged, of course, only as a joke.
