Wargaming employs “Supertesters” for World of Warships and World of Tanks to test every new version of the game thoroughly. Some of them received an exclusive Tier 8 premium battleship as a thank you. Not everyone is pleased with this.
Every time a new version of World of Warships is released, numerous Supertesters have thoroughly tested the new update and provided valuable feedback to the developers beforehand. The Supertesters are not paid Wargaming employees, but dedicated, volunteer players. As thanks for their efforts, the developers have gifted some of them the US battleship USS Alabama.
Why do they have a ship and I don’t?
With this gift, Wargaming did not make just friends. Many players are outraged by the gifting, as the USS Alabama is a premium ship at Tier 8. This large vessel can compete in the highest league. Moreover, the USS Alabama generates more experience and money in-game as a premium ship. It starts with fully upgraded weapons and upgrades.
Since there are currently no regularly available premium ships of this tier from the US Navy, some players feel disadvantaged and complain bitterly. The Supertester initiative is said to be Pay2Win, as the Alabama would simply be too good. Other players just think it’s silly that this ship is only available to a small portion of players.

These are harsh accusations from the community and some players vent their anger freely in the forum:
“To hell with this company and to hell with all the Supertesters! Burn for all eternity!”
World of Warships: Nerf for the USS Alabama is coming
But what is really going on here? We asked Wargaming directly for clarification. The response came soon: The USS Alabama has indeed turned out to be too strong. Therefore, the ship will be nerfed very soon to align with the usual level of its tier. However, whether and when the USS Alabama will become regularly purchasable in the market could not be told to us (yet). We will stay on top of the matter and bring updates as soon as we hear anything from Wargaming.
