So far, Wargaming’s naval battle spectacle World of Warships has only been available on PC and as a mobile variant. Now, the game is finally set to be released on consoles under the name World of Warships: Legends for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
In World of Warships, you will fight with ships from the two world wars and shortly thereafter for dominance. In teams, you will face off against another fleet and control your ship. The goal is to eliminate the enemy forces or capture strategic objectives.
So far, this virtual battleship game has only been available on PC and as a dedicated version for mobile devices. Now it’s the turn of the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
Not a port from PC, but a completely new game!
What exactly is World of Warships: Legends? World of Warships: Legends is primarily the console version of World of Warships. It is currently being developed by Wargaming St. Petersburg and is not a simple port of the PC version. Rather, it is a standalone game with its own gameplay.
These features await you in World of Warships – Legends:
- 3 ship classes: There will be destroyers, cruisers, and battleships. Aircraft carriers will be added later.
- Match duration: A naval battle will last on average 15 minutes.
- Research tiers: There will only be 7 tiers of ships on console instead of 10.
- Nations: In the upcoming alpha, there will only be the Imperial Japanese Navy and the US Navy.
Is there crossplay or cross-progression with other Wargaming titles? You will only be able to play World of Warships: Legends on the respective console. Additionally, the game is not compatible with any other Wargaming title. You cannot use your progress or your real money coins from the PC version or World of Tanks for World of Warships: Legends.
Alpha test in July 2018
When can I play World of Warships: Legends? The alpha test of Legends begins in mid-July 2018. The test is expected to last about 2 months. Additional test phases may also be planned. You can apply for the alpha on the Wargaming homepage.
When will the game be released? The release of World of Warships: Legends will not take place until 2019. However, further information should be available at Gamescom 2018.
