World of Warcraft has been on the market for almost twelve years now, and during this time the launch screen we see after logging in has changed significantly multiple times. See here how the development of the screen has unfolded over the years.
The good old days, the year was 2004 and after entering your data in World of Warcraft, powerful orchestral music played and you saw the dark portal, dark and threatening, flanked by grim hooded figures in statue form! Those were launch screens!

Meanwhile, after the Pre-Patch to Legion, everything looks different and the dark portal has been replaced by a dark demon pit. Toxic green glows the fel magic and two demon servants of the “Demon Watch” type stand ready with their axes. However, between the original image of the Dark Portal and the demon camp, several other cool title screens have flashed across the screens.
All Screens at Once!
For example, there was an icy wasteland with a fortress in the middle for Wrath of the Lich King, and Arthas’s undead dragon pet “Sindragosa” stood roaring there. Or after the release of Cataclysm, when Deathwing personally greeted us while the dragon was busy crushing Stormwind. Especially cool was the screen from Mists of Pandaria, which showed two massive guardian statues with crossed spears. For the release of Warlords of Draenor, the portal returned, but with nasty red magic effects! The game itself didn’t impress me much back then, but the launch screen and that awesome music… ah… nostalgia! But enough reminiscing, which WoW launch screen is your favorite?
