For young fans of World of Warcraft, there will soon be reading material – a children’s book will be released in November.
Azeroth through the eyes of children
A younger audience will soon be able to enjoy the story of Warcraft, as Blizzard has entered into a partnership with Scholastic and will publish the book “World of Warcraft: Traveler” later this year.
“Traveler” will thematically focus on a young boy who happens to be the son of a “great explorer” of the Warcraft universe. Due to an incident, he gets separated from his family and washes up on a foreign shore. Here he must navigate a strange world, equipped with a magical compass and his drawing tools. As can be seen from the first sketches, the hero will make friends with a Murloc, encounter Night Elves, and meet characters like Malfurion and Tyrande.
The story is written by Greg Weisman, with illustrations by Samwise Didier, who has been responsible for many concept drawings and artworks related to Blizzard games.
In general, the goal was to answer the question of what Azeroth might look like through the eyes of children who are discovering parts of this world for the first time.
Although the book is intended to be child-friendly, aimed at “young fans” aged 8-12, some adults will likely place the book on their shelves. A certain demon will definitely do so.
A release of the book is planned for November 2016 in America; it is still unclear if and when a German translation will be made available. The announcement refers to it as a “Series,” indicating a multi-part series.
