In World of Warcraft , the details are now known about how follower missions work exactly, allowing players to obtain raid gear from Highmaul, which scales up to item level 685.
The details are finally clear. The WoW fan site WoW Insider has now documented in an article how this works EXACTLY with the “Highmaul” missions. Many know that these missions exist, but how they work exactly has been rather nebulous for most until now.
This is very interesting because through these raid missions it is possible to obtain raid gear without having to raid yourself. This works through follower missions of level 645. However, there are a few catches:
- You need 3 followers with item level 645 for the first mission to appear.
- This mission should remain active for a few days, so you have a little time to gather your A-Team.
- Once the raid mission is completed, it takes two weeks for the next one to appear. This is the minimum duration of the lockout.
- The items from these missions can be warforged, socketed, or equipped with tertiary stats (such as movement speed or lifesteal).
- However, there can be no weapons.

The quality of the items further depends on what difficulty level of Highmaul you raid with your character:
- Those who have not defeated any bosses in Highmaul (LFR does not count) will receive 655 loot.
- Those who have killed at least 15 bosses in Highmaul normal will receive 670 loot.
- Those who have killed at least 15 in Highmaul heroic will receive 685 loot.
- Those who have killed at least 15 bosses in Highmaul mythic will receive 685 loot and additionally 1000 gold per mission.
