Wargaming, the creators of World of Tanks, recently enlisted action star Dolph Lundgren as their advertising icon. Now the first commercial featuring the 80s action legend has been released, and it is hilariously funny!
In the 80s, the world was quite different and especially action heroes were icons of clichéd masculinity. Among them was Dolph Lundgren, who as the tough brute Ivan Drago pummeled the equally distinctive Sylvester Stallone around the ring in Rocky IV.
“We’re not in the 80s anymore”
But now the 80s are long gone, and masculinity is defined differently in the year 2017. Thus, Dolph Lundgren feels rather lost in the new World of Tanks commercial and is desperately searching for an appropriate new hobby for modern men.
However, whether he is baking crispy ciabatta bread in a cooking class, attending relaxing yoga classes, or testing VR headsets – nothing works, everything ends in disaster. Then his manager has a life-saving idea. A game with tanks, and it’s also free! World of Tanks becomes Dolph Lundgren’s new hobby. To the detriment of an innocent loaf of bread!
World of Tanks – Action heroes and tanks – A perfect mix
The Dolph Lundgren ad hits the same note with its wit and crude humor as the advertisement for World of Warships featuring Steven Seagal released last year. It’s yet to be seen whether Dolph Lundgren – like Seagal – will be included in the game as a tank commander.
Perhaps other 80s action heroes like Stallone, Schwarzenegger, or even Chuck Norris will make an appearance in the game someday. At least Arnold Schwarzenegger has already proven with the advertising for the mobile game Mobile Strike that he’s up for such antics. It would definitely be cool, and Wargaming should have enough money for it too!
We have embedded the hilariously funny commercial here. Enjoy watching!
