The Portkey and Portmanteaus are an important part of the game in Wizards Unite. But how do they work and how can you use them effectively?
What are Portmanteaus? You can find these boxes all over the world of Wizards Unite. You need to walk a certain number of kilometers to be able to open the boxes. These boxes are comparable to eggs from Pokémon GO. There are 4 different types of Portmanteaus:
- Valuable Portmanteau – 2 km
- Magnificent Portmanteau – 5 km
- Brilliant Portmanteau – 7 km
- Superior Portmanteau – 10 km
How do I open the boxes? The keys open the Portmanteau for you. There are 2 different types of keys in Wizards Unite:
- Golden Key – Lasts indefinitely and is automatically in your inventory
- Silver Key – Lasts for exactly one Portmanteau and can be obtained in different ways
How do I best use the Portmanteau and Portkey?
How do I get the Portmanteaus? The boxes are just lying around like any other item. When you click on the box, it becomes yours. You can carry a total of 8 Portmanteaus.
What’s inside the Portmanteaus? Once you’ve walked the necessary kilometers and had the key in the box, you can open it.
A magical encounter awaits you there and you must open the box in AR mode.
How do I open the Portmanteau? Insert the golden or silver key into the Portmanteau and start walking. You will receive a notification when you have opened the box. Then go to your inventory and use the Portkey that was in the box.
This will open the AR mode, and you need to look around to see if you see a portal. You must then enter this portal.
Once you are inside, you will see a completely new game world. The game will tell you what to do. For example, you must find magical creatures in this world and tap on them. So look around well.
A distinction must be made here: In Wizards Unite, there are two different keys.
- Once there is the key with which you can open the Portmanteau.
- Inside the Portmanteau, there is a Portkey. Portkeys are already known from Harry Potter. They allowed wizards to travel to other places in seconds by opening a portal.
What makes the Portmanteaus so special: According to the game, the magical creatures you encounter through the Portkeys can only be found through the Portmanteau. You cannot find them on the street.
How do I get the keys for the boxes? You carry the golden key permanently with you. This is comparable to the infinite incubator in Pokémon GO. You can use the key infinitely for each Portmanteau.
The silver keys last only once and then disappear. However, you can find these keys relatively often. They are available during magical encounters and other activities in the game. If you want to open more Portmanteaus than one at a time, use the silver keys to open additional boxes.
You can also buy the keys in the game if you don’t have enough left. According to initial reports, the keys seem to drop quite frequently from encounters. So you should receive enough silver keys just by playing.
How do I use the keys effectively? You should mainly use the golden key on the 2-km Portmanteaus. It is not really worth using a precious silver key here.
You should use the silver keys on the boxes with more kilometers. These keys are more worthwhile here, as the encounters through the Portkey are rarer.
