Today, on October 29th, the Halloween event Festival of the Lost starts in Destiny 2. With a spooky, colorful trailer, Bungie is now heating up the mood for the upcoming festivities.
What is the Festival of the Lost about? Basically, it is the Halloween celebration of Destiny 2, which was also celebrated in Destiny 1.
Survivors and Guardians gather in the Tower of the Last City to commemorate their loved ones, friends, and comrades who had to give their lives. One is meant to pause and remember what one is actually fighting for.
The Tower is specially adorned in a fancy festive wrap. Everything is a bit darker than usual. Candles, pumpkins, and colorful lights can be found everywhere. All Guardians can participate, regardless of additional content – even with the Free-to-Play version Destiny 2: New Light.

What does the trailer show? In line with today’s start of the Halloween event, Bungie has released a trailer to get the Guardians ready for the spooky weeks to come. The festival runs from October 29th to November 19th. Here you can watch the video:
To cool techno beats, there is a first detailed look at the festively decorated Tower, but also
- at the traditional cardboard masks
- at new event-specific Eververse items like the cool broom Sparrow or the glowing armor ornaments
- at the new event weapon Braytech Werewolf with a power level of 950
- or at the event activity Haunted Forest
Additionally, at the end of the trailer, it is suggested to visit Eris Morn. Who knows, maybe she will start the quest for the new exotic machine gun Xenophage.
What’s happening today? The Festival of the Lost is not the only new content that Guardians can look forward to starting today. With the weekly reset, the aforementioned exotic quest for the new machine gun also begins. Additionally, a new dungeon opens its doors for the Guardians today.
