BingoMod, is the name of a new threat to Android. The malware can do a lot, but you can easily protect yourself, and we will show you how.
What type of malware is this? The Trojan named BingoMod is currently rampant malware that essentially unlocks your phone for hackers and allows them to perform various actions. Experts suspect that only a part of the danger comes from automated processes, while the primary danger stems from manual access via this Trojan.
How is BingoMod distributed? The criminals send SMS and attempt to entice their victims to click on the link contained within through various formulations. They then download a supposed security software – but instead, they unlock all locks.

What does BingoMod do on the phone? Once installed, the Trojan monitors all your actions. It records passwords via a keylogger or intercepts SMS with one-time access codes. Once enough information is gathered, cybercriminals begin remotely accessing the phone, especially to empty accounts. Once their dark deeds are done, they delete everything on the phone.
Why do they destroy all data? We do not know the exact reasons, but it is likely that they want to cover their tracks. They effectively reset the phone as you would do when selling it or giving it to someone else for further use, returning it to factory settings.
Protection on Android and iOS
How can I protect my devices? Generally, this applies not only to Android but also to iOS: Only install apps from official sources, such as the Play Store on Google’s operating system. Do not open links sent to you unless you can be 100% sure of who sent them and what lies behind them.
As long as you keep your system updated on your smartphone, the service “Google Play Protect” according to the company’s statements protects you against circulating versions of this Trojan, provided you adhere to the intended channels for distributing software.
