WildStar receives new real-money currency Protobucks

For the release of WildStar on Steam, the game is changing its premium currency. We will tell you what changes with “Protobucks”.

Conversion rate NCoin to Protobucks at 1:1 – but there are bonuses

The SciFi MMORPG by Carbine, WildStar, will soon launch on the gaming platform Steam. To ensure this goes smoothly and Steam players do not have to rely on the in-game currency of NC (NCoin), WildStar will soon switch from NCoin to so-called “Protobucks”. Players do not need to do much complex math, as what previously cost 100 NCoin will now be offered for 100 Protobucks – the conversion rate is thus 1:1.

These changes are scheduled to take place during maintenance on May 18.

Unlike the purchase of NCoin, there will be bonuses when acquiring Protobucks – the more money you spend, the more Protobucks you get. Here’s a small comparison of how much you previously had to spend for NCoin and what amount of Protobucks is now available.

Exchange of NCoin for Protobucks

If you recently purchased a large amount of NCoin, you don’t have to be disappointed – as NCoin can easily be exchanged for Protobucks. This should be possible without major detours through an interface in the game.

If you exchange particularly large amounts of NCoin at once, you will also be rewarded with bonus Protobucks. The following factors apply for the exchange.

An example: If you exchange 1000 NCoin for 1000 Protobucks, you will receive a bonus of 1.1325. This would mean that at the end of the exchange, you will get an additional 312 Protobucks.

Finally, it should be noted that Protobucks cannot be converted back into NCoin. The Protobucks can only be used for WildStar after the exchange and not for any other NCsoft games.
