WildStar is now a Free2Play MMO. The change took place at 6 AM.
If you are reading this, you can log in for free to the Free2Play MMORPG WildStar. The switch from a subscription model to a Free2Play model happened at 6:00 AM this morning. At 6 AM our time, it is just midnight on the East Coast of the USA, hence the timing.
After a successful launch last summer, WildStar unfortunately ran out of steam quickly, making a Free2Play transition necessary.
Free2Play fans can look forward to a title developed under AAA conditions with a high budget and great effort. The result has been impressive: WildStar is actually a great game with huge potential. At release, there was little criticism, much praise. The Meta-Critic score stands at an impressive 82.
However, the game struggled with several teething problems over the summer, content updates stalled after the release, and players hit walls in the endgame. Ultimately, it simply lacked players.
In recent weeks, developer Carbine cleaned up and revised the game, tearing down the walls that players had crashed into months ago.
WildStar will be the last major Free2Play MMORPG in 2015
WildStar is, after Skyforge, the last major date for fans of Free2Play MMORPGs this year. Before the next title , Blade and Soul, really kicks off, it will already be 2016. Perhaps now is the hour of the Chuas.
So, have fun in the Nexus, you cupcakes. May this second attempt go better than the first time!
