Last weekend marked the first Alpha phase of the Western MMORPG Wild West Online. Some participants have already shared their thoughts on it.
The Alpha of Wild West Online is over. Meanwhile, participants are sharing their opinions on it. However, the developers insist that it must always be mentioned that it is still an unfinished Alpha version and that what was seen is not representative of the final game.

An empty world with little content
There is a general consensus that there is still an enormous amount of work to be done on the game.
Many testers are surprised that there are still plans to release Wild West Online this year. What has been playable so far was seen by many as an extremely early version that needs many more months to even reach beta status. There was essentially hardly anything to do. The world was empty and apart from PvP fights and treasure hunting, there was nothing to do in the Alpha.
How the developers plan to deliver so much content in about three months, so that Wild West Online truly achieves release status, is the big question.
Many buyers are demanding their money back
The developers have given testers the opportunity to get their money back by September 27 if they are not satisfied, and according to Reddit, a lot of buyers are taking advantage of this offer.
Also, according to many players, a lot needs to be done about the animations, as they appear extremely stiff. Another point of criticism was that players hardly encountered each other, which suggests that the Alpha was not very well attended. There were also many bugs, such as horses getting stuck in rocks. Some Reddit users view these problems as confirmation that Wild West Online is a reskin of the controversial game The War Z, which has similar issues and is now called Infestation: Survivor Stories.
Potential is present
However, some testers also believe that Wild West Online does have the potential to become a really good Western MMO. The fundamentals are there, but it mainly lacks content and polishing.
But the question simply arises whether this can really be accomplished in the few months left this year. Therefore, it would not be surprising if the release of Wild West Online gets postponed.
The development team is currently preparing another Alpha that is supposed to bring some improvements and clearer instructions on how to download and start the game and log in. A date for Alpha 2 has not yet been set.
