There are several ways to die in Apex Legends. One of them can be exploited by the legend Wraith, luring opponents to their direct death if they follow her.
How does it work? The legends in Apex Legends all have unique abilities. The mystical Wraith has the ability to jump through different dimensions.
Her ultimate ability is to create a rift in reality, with which she and other players can teleport from one location to another by setting up two portals. Entering one portal will result in landing shortly in the other.
If the exit of the portal is placed in a closed door and that door is closed again after the portal is set up, anyone who enters the other portal and would appear “in the door” dies instantly.
Death by Dimension Portal, possibly a Bug
Is this intentional? Whether it is intended that players can be directly killed through a door is not entirely clear. After all, there are other ways to creatively use the abilities of the legends:
- Lifeline and Gibraltar can combine their abilities into a movable shield.
- Caustic can trap and slowly kill opponents with his abilities.
However, since this is a special case where players are teleported into the textures, it feels more like a protection against hackers being exploited.
Similarly, you can die if you get stuck between a wall and a container, as shown humorously by a player in a video as the “easy way to get the first kill.”
Caution when using: It could well be that the portal kills are penalized as an exploit and are not intended. You should be careful when placing a portal at such a distance.
Not only opponents but also your teammates or yourself can die directly if you get into the portal. So the “trick” should be approached with caution.

This is what the community says: Most players find the fact that one can be killed through a door rather funny. They want to exploit the trick to lure unsuspecting opponents into a trap.
Since opponents must voluntarily use the portal, the technique will likely work rather rarely, according to the community. But when it does work, it will be all the more amusing.
What do you think of the “trick”?
Getting caught in such a trap can certainly be frustrating – like a weapon that one cannot handle:
