Genshin Impact currently demands full commitment and discipline from MeinMMO editor Marie Friske.
As a player, I have myself under control in Genshin Impact regarding my in-game spending – mostly at least. But then there is the temptation from the numerous, cool 5-star characters.
Quickly, one tries their luck in the gacha system and uses the savings to pull on an event banner for a chance at a character. The new character Alhaitham has tempted me to spend heaps of saved in-game currency.

But now, it’s definitely over with spending. With some leaks, Genshin Impact players have already gotten a small glimpse of possibly upcoming characters. Of course, these are just speculations and the information has not yet been officially confirmed.
But just the prospect of a certain character in an upcoming game version is reason enough for me to develop a sophisticated saving system.
The motivation: A mysterious green-haired apothecary from Liyue with a talking snake, who is one of the best NPCs in the whole game: Baizhu!
This is my ultimate saving plan
With Baizhu in mind, I spend my time in Genshin Impact mainly doing one thing: hoarding in-game currency. But that’s not enough.
To prevent myself from becoming weak again with the next characters and throwing my savings out the window, I have now found the perfect strategy for myself – and reached a new level of nerdiness even for my standards.
I manually write a list to get an overview of how many pulls I need to guarantee getting Baizhu. However, in addition to the minimum pulls, a buffer is needed, as one could lose even when obtaining a 5-star character in a 50:50 pull.
After that, I start with mathematical calculations. I take the approximate date from the leaks when Baizhu could appear and calculate the days I have left. Of course, factors such as
- achievable currency from certain domains or quests,
- the daily tasks
- and the guaranteed pulls from the shop cannot be missing.
Additionally, I try to plan how much currency could still come from certain events or in-game activities. In the end, I know how much in-game currency I need to earn per day to guarantee getting Baizhu.
The list helps me keep a clear goal in sight and maintain an overview of my savings. By checking off items on the list, I have already experienced small successes and the feeling of having already made the possible pulls – without actually using them.
The best NPC hopefully finally comes as a playable character
Baizhu is the owner of Bubu Pharmacy. Together with the zombie girl Qiqi, he sells his goods there at prices that are sometimes outrageous, and treats patients in Liuye.
He charges a whole 3 million Mora for an item that the main character in Genshin Impact desperately needs, but then graciously reduces the price a bit. With a generous discount, he now only wants 2,990,000 of the fictional currency – and still gets away with it.
Baizhu is a mysterious character whose intentions are still not fully understood. His background is barely illuminated. It is also interesting that the mysterious man carries a talking snake named Changsheng on his shoulders.
After the Mora action, the duo delivers a small goosebump moment that truly makes me curious about who Baizhu really is:
- Baizhu mentions that they had an interesting first encounter with the main character and thus the player, and he is already looking forward to collaborating in the future. Then he laughs and looks at the player with his yellow-orange snake eyes. Meanwhile, his snake comments: “The sound is the laughter of a man who’s found new people to fleece. Consider yourself warned…”
There are different fan theories about who Baizhu really is. Some suspect he is the real Dendro Archon, while others consider him an Adeptus. In addition, he bears a striking resemblance to one of the Fatui Harbingers: Pantalone – whom I will also secure immediately upon release. Therefore, there is speculation about whether the two could be brothers, twins, or even the same person.
Both also seem to have a special connection to money. Pantalone acts as the banker of the antagonist group Fatui Harbinger, while Baizhu also seems to be interested in large sums of Mora.
Especially because of his inscrutable nature, I find the character Baizhu incredibly intriguing. Moreover, I like his voice and the character that shines through in cutscenes or the trailers.

Perhaps the time will soon come for the apothecary to finally play a more prominent role in Genshin Impact. I will be well prepared for the moment.

My saved primogem fund was originally intended for Zhongli banners. Now I hope, of course, that he does not receive an event banner together with another of my favorites. Then I would really have a big financial problem or would need to extend my previous calculations by the Zhongli factor.
