How many games does Diablo 4 use a battle pass system where in-game rewards can be earned. However, fans are not always happy with the content offered. The soon-to-be-released battle pass for the second season of Diablo 4 is controversial.
This is what the battle pass in Diablo 4 looks like:
- Every player has access to 27 levels for free.
- Those who pay extra get access to an additional 63 premium levels. The cost is 10 €.
- Included are – alongside a seasonal title, the currency “smoldering ash” and emotes – especially skins for weapons, armor, and mounts.
- The new battle pass launches with season 2 on October 17, 2023, at 7 PM.
What is being discussed? In a thread on Reddit, fans share their opinions on the new cosmetic items. Overall, these have met with little enthusiasm.

Players see little improvements compared to season 1
What do players say about the new battle pass? The first season of Diablo 4 was already highly controversial. Thus, hopes for improvement were high. But at least the battle pass has not fulfilled this hope for many. Some reactions have been summarized here for you:
- “The armor […] looks extremely similar to season 1, and that is … well …”
- “Yes, just a blood theme vs. a bone theme”
Alongside the new battle pass, many other innovations come with season 2. What they are, you can find out here on MeinMMO.
Basically, many think that the gear included in the free battle pass is too plain and “just ugly”.
- “They are only one step away from just making a peasant costume.”
- “Why are they giving us NPC armor?”
Others take it humorously:
- “Especially for people like me who want to look totally normal while fighting a huge army of demons. Go away from my field, demons!”
- “Honestly, all the fancy armors look too heavy and bulky. Give me leather clothes and I’ll kill everything while looking like your neighbor next door.”

At least your mounts can look good
The unlockable armor of the premium pass is overall a bit more popular. However, many would have wished for more variety.
- “I really like the armor, but it’s damn stupid that it looks the same for every class.”
- “Why do all cosmetic items from the battle pass look like they are meant for necromancers?”
- “I’ll play again when they let me be a druid who doesn’t look like a barrel.”
At least the impressive new armor for the loyal mount is well received by almost everyone.
- “The horse armor looks really great!”
However, for many, this is not enough motivation to purchase the premium pass.
- “Besides the horse armor, everything is very mediocre and can easily be skipped,” sums up the top comment with almost 1000 upvotes.
